On A Path

 You cannot not be on a path to God, because God is All and all paths are part of Him as well as lead to Him. If we look at it in the context of this linear dream world, it can appear that someone is going the wrong direction or going "away" from Him, but this is false, because our paths are multi dimensional spirals where "to" and "away" do not apply or make sense.
