Degrees Of Sin

 You probably think that when you yell at someone or you say harmful words that these deeds are not like committing a murder or child abuse. What if you only slap the child once or twist his arm? What if you spank him with a belt, causing some welts? What if you spank him so hard he passes out? What if he has to be taken to the hospital? You want to assign degrees to sins, hoping that "lesser" sins will still get you forgiven and in to Heaven (or at least keep you out of Hell). No luck on this one. There are no degrees of sin. If you see sin, it is 100%. And you hope that God will be busy punishing the bigger sinners, such as the child abusers, instead of the lesser sinners, which you hope you fall into that category. 

There are no degrees of sin, because there is no sin. There are only errors - choices that fall outside of the divine template. But can they even be considered errors if sometimes we need to learn through contrast - we go down the “wrong” path as that is what shows us the “right” path.
