Daily Light: September 2013
When Jesus said judge not lest you be judged, it is widely believed that he was referring to judgment by God or even the idea of karma, but this is false. First, there is nothing outside of ourselves to judge us --- we are One with God and All that is, and He expresses through us --- why would He judge Himself? Second, God is a God of Love, not judgment and punishment. We assign a negative connotation to the idea of His judgment, but what if He judges us as His most holy and perfect creation? His view of us has never changed. It is our view that changes as we remember and recognize.
Jesus' statement on judgment referred to the inevitable judgment --- the self judgment --- that occurs when we judge. Judgment of others and self judgment are the same, because only Oneness exists. All "outside" judgment is a projection of self judgment. So Jesus was giving us a lesson in psychology, teaching us how to recognize the self judgment that almost everyone walking this earth carries and which gets projected out, creating an appearance of the world that is one of heavy judgment of individuals, groups, nations, etc.
We are divine, but we live in a human experience. You cannot cut off or rationalize separation from the human experience to reach the divine one. We must embrace all of the experience so that we can know wholeness. That includes the ups and downs and the full range of emotions, including anger and sadness. Only through embracing and feeling these "negative" emotions can we eventually rise above them to where we know only the peace and joy of God.
You always do what makes you happy. The problem is that most of us do not know what truly makes us happy, so we usually are operating from the ego. It is not what we think makes us happy but that which truly does, and He is all that can make us happy.
It's really simple. It's your belief system that blocks your recognition of God. So you say you can't live without a belief system. But what you don't realize is that your beliefs are your own. They are not universal, because they were created from your own experiences. Further, when you believe in a certain thing, you automatically don't believe in its counterpart. God is All. Thus you are setting up a system where you see separation, not the Unity that underlies all. The stronger someone holds beliefs, the more separation they see in themselves and the world, the more fear they feel, etc. Your beliefs are perceptions you hold, not Truth. You have to rise above the belief system to know Truth. And yes, you can operate in this world above a belief system --- that is sanity, that's what Jesus did --- in the world but not of it.
You have to have the eyes to see and the ears to hear --- God's eyes and ears. Each of us has a belief system which distorts this. What we "see" and "hear" is altered or shaped by the prism of our belief system. If we step back from that belief system, then we can begin to truly see what is there. Humility is borne from the knowing that we cannot understand many things --- we have stepped back from our belief system. Humility then provides the opening for God to reveal Himself to us.
There are many people who have a hard time creating abundance in their life. Abundance encompasses many areas from financial, to career, to healthy relationships, to our Love relationship with God. For these people they have a subconscious (or they are blessed if it has risen to the surface) set of beliefs ranging from they are not deserving to an extreme set where they have very low self worth --- and everything in between. God cannot give abundance if you do not feel you are deserving of it. And it doesn't work that He gives it to you and then you see that you are deserving. You have to FIRST feel deserving. Also, recognize that you may also hold the flip side of believing you are not deserving. You may believe that God is punishing you and intentionally withholding abundance.
The only way to create new patterns in your life is to explore and clear these false beliefs you hold. There may be some distress in doing so, but joy and peace --- and God --- exist at the other end of this process. And do you really have a choice if your life is not working now?
Memory of God lies within you. There is nothing you have to do except surrender your false beliefs about Him, and your remembrance will rise to your consciousness.
Astrophysicists tell us that before the Big Bang, all matter was condensed into something so infinitesimally small that it was not measurable. It was not measurable, because it was not matter. It was thought, God's Word. Do you remember?
Although love in this world is at best but a faint trace of the Love that we share with God, it can be the vehicle which helps us to remember His Love. In order for that to happen, we have to be open to wherever this love takes us. This includes being hurt. To fully receive God's Love, we have to release all barriers we have put up between ourselves and Him. This can be practiced with those close to us, especially a significant other. Are you willing to let go of expectations and trying to control a situation and let this other person fully love you as well as you love them? If you answered yes, then do you understand that this includes the possibility of being hurt? Will you still love that person who creates the hurt? Divine Love is always there, regardless of what you say, do, or think. There is no situation where God would withdraw His Love, for to do so would mean that He withdraws from Himself. So in this dream experience we are all sharing, are you willing to love no matter what? Did Jesus still love those who crucified Him?
Everyone, including you, has a great gift to give to the world. Discover what your gift is and reveal your joy.
If you are seeing everyone and everything as your Self, there can be no judgment present. There is only holiness and gratitude. If judgment is present, that means that you are not seeing through eyes of Oneness, but it is important that you simply recognize this without applying further judgment to it.
This illusory world is one of perception, because it is created on a belief in separation. When you believe something, anything, is separate, you "perceive" what it is as outside or separate from you. In Oneness, there is only knowledge, which reflects no separation. When you are the Oneness, there is nothing separate from you to perceive. This is why your perceptions/beliefs/opinions have no meaning, because they are based from a view of separation. Knowledge or Truth is what you already have and what you already are. When you release your false beliefs/perceptions, Truth is revealed as always having been there.
God wants you. He needs you. He needs your Love, not sometimes, but all the time. And you desire His Love and Communion, not sometimes, but all of the time, for all eternity.
You cannot change anyone, nor would you want to. That person who irritates or angers you greatly is giving you a gift, a mirror to see who you really are. What you can change is how you view that person or situation.
You are the Light of the world and essential to salvation. That is not a statement of arrogance. It is one of humility, because it is a recognition that we are One and that each of us is a piece of the grand puzzle of God. The body of God cannot be complete without your piece going into place.
Do you realize that your mind is constantly at war with itself? It is always arguing, judging, telling you what you should or shouldn't do, always separating things into good or bad. Do you realize this is insanity? This is an example of the type of argument that goes on in your head --- should we drive a Ford or Chevy across the lake (there is no bridge and the car cannot magically convert into a boat). You are debating and making choices that have no meaning whatsoever. And we have "created" a whole world with no meaning, because what is going on in our heads, the meaningless thoughts, get projected out and create the world we see. So we think that the role we play and the events that happen in this dream are real, and this obscures us from seeing what is really Real.
Everything shares a purpose with you, from the "living" to the inanimate. If you were to look at something and you had no history with it, no past, no preconceived ideas of what it was or what it was for, what would happen? You would see it for what it really is, the purpose each part of God shares --- to help Itself awaken.
Do you realize how incredibly powerful you are? But you can only know true power --- the power of God that is viewed through eyes of Unity and not the false power as the world sees it based on a belief in separation and having more than others --- you can only know true power if you bathe in the endless well of Love and compassion that exists within you. When you do this, there is no judgment. True power equals non judgment equals Unity. Why would you ever need or want to judge or harm anything or anyone when it is all a part of Him, a part of you?
We can think about God, argue and debate about Him, do things in His name (some of them not so good), create religions or theologies around Him, but these are all perceptions of Him that come from an ego mind. They are all false because they are not based on an experience of Him. Experience is Truth, reveals Truth, and experience of Him is all that is Real. Many religions and theologies have been created from someone's experience of God, and these can be markers for you, but they can't substitute for your experience of Him. That's why Jesus said the Kingdom is within you (and waiting to be discovered!). When you have experienced Him, there is no longer a need to perceive Him, which is what the ego mind tries to do and which leads to debates over who He is, what His Will is, (and wars, hatred, etc). Perceptions sees duality and separation. Experience knows Oneness. Remember, you can't think your way to God.
True understanding only comes through non judgment. When judgment is absent, Unity is seen and experienced.
Is there an emotional pattern you keep repeating within yourself or in your relationships that you want to stop? Once you have recognized that this pattern is unhealthy and is limiting you, you must first DESIRE that this be removed at all cost. Some people have to suffer the consequences and distress of this pattern many times, basically hitting rock bottom, while others can recognize it early on --- you don't have to suffer --- it is your resistance to releasing it that creates suffering.
Once you desire releasing it above everything, you GIVE it to God and ASK for His help. It is critical that when we want to release something, we acknowledge that of ourselves, we are nothing. God does the heavy lifting. But the next step is where many retreat, as we must be WILLING to follow whatever path God shows us to release this pattern. Sometimes it may be as easy as He takes it. But often we have to release the false beliefs that held that pattern in place, and this usually means the experience of grief, anger, etc. You can't clear the pattern without the complete willingness.
Why do we look to things outside of us to "save" us? Why do we listen to what the world says, to what others think of us? Is our identity so fleeting and unstable? Addictions are rampant, a quarter of the kids under six are on prescription medicine, many people are greatly depressed, our foods that we eat and the air that we breathe is toxic, the financial system is crumbling --- would you expect ANY OTHER result from a world that is run by egos and is based on a belief that we are separate from God? Why would you look to this world for any affirmation of who you are? The power lies inside of you! He is inside of you! Turn from the falsity to Him. Many of you are going through very difficult times emotionally/physically/mentally/spiritually and your faith is wavering. If you lose faith, you lose everything. He will provide the map to get you out of your mess IF you continue to know this to be true and you follow the hints He gives you. It may not be easy, and it may take a lot of steps to heal yourself as we exist in a big mess, but there is complete certainty it will happen if you continually ask His help and then follow what is given. Can what is false hold up against the power of God? You believe that the false is powerful because that is all you see, but appearances are just that --- appearances. When it is the depth of darkness during the night, do you have faith that the sun will rise the next morning?
Sometimes God shows us the "right" path by our going down a "wrong" path, one which leads to a dead end. He lets us have our will so that we can see His Will.
We live in a world where our bodily senses are highly valued and taken as truth. We make completely false assumptions, like if we can't see something, it is not there. This creates a negative feedback loop that gives credence to the false assumption, never allowing you to break out of the loop. Our true attributes that came from our Oneness with God, such as being ALL knowing, are discounted in this world. But we must rely on our guidance and intuition, even when our five senses tell us something different.
If you feel that you have to sacrifice to have Him, you do. You have to give up anger, fear, resentment, bitterness, pride, self pity, and self righteousness.
Everyone is where they are meant to be. There are no mistakes. How can a mistake happen when God is One, All there is? Can anything be outside of Divine order? It can appear that individually or collectively we have taken a "wrong" or "backwards" turn, and the world certainly appears like we have taaken a lot of wrong steps, but these are appearances that will go to nothingness once we recoginze our relationship to God. You can't change the eternal --- you can't change what never happened. What changes is our recognition that this dream of separation was just that, a dream from which we can awaken any time we choose.
"Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also," tells us that God is found in your heart, in His Love. This is also where your joy is found, because joy is the treasure that comes from your relationship with Him.
Know thyself. This means complete honesty with yourself. A spiritual warrior is not afraid of facing any perceived darkness within themselves or the world because they know that this perception can be turned into Light, as it is truly All Light and His Love.
Being honest with yourself means acknowledging that you cannot call yourself spiritual, Christian, Buddhist --- whatever you label as holy --- while you put judgments on others and the world. That is incompatible, as judgment is not of God --- He is Love. Knowing thyself means that you understand that only Oneness exists and what is within you is the same as what is "outside" of you. Thus as you judge others, you are only judging yourself, and your judgment of others is a projection of your self judgment.
If you desire to be a spiritual warrior and fulfill your holiness, to truly help the world, then you must stop laying your perceived sins on the world and heal yourself. When you do this, you become a bright candle that joins others who have lit their candle, creating a Light that dispels the darkness.
