To be in the world but not of it means that you are not attached to anything of this false world and you know that nothing of this world is real. Only God's Kingdom is real.
If you live in fear, it is because you believe this world and its events, the circumstances you find yourself under, are real. You believe that others have power over you to dictate what happens to you. you don't realize that you are just playing a role in a play.
