Attachment --- to someone, something, or some outcome --- creates an appearance of separation from God. When we are attached, we favor one thing over another, which creates dis-unity, as God is All, God is One.
If we are attached, we are really saying our attachment is more important than God. You can want something or an outcome without being attached to it.
