In This World But Not Of It

 We live in a world that is fallen, so because we are in this world, in a human body, we experience a fallen state. But this doesn’t mean that we are fallen, that we are somehow less than whole, that we have committed a sin and we need to do penance - the great misrepresentation and mistake of most organized religion. 

When Jesus said to be in the world but not of it, this is what he was referring to. He was saying that we have to operate in a fallen world but that we should recognize this is not our true state. We always talk about the paradox because it’s so important to hold that paradox, to simultaneously hold what appears to be conflicting positions. So when we are in the fallen works and we experience sickness, death, decay, hatred, judgment and all of the “ills” of this fallen world, we have to simultaneously know that this is not the Kingdom, not our true state. By holding the paradox we are able to make decisions which are in our highest good and the highest good of this world - so that we can return this world to the divine template that God intended. So if we have cancer or a serious illness, we can make a decision on treatment from one end of the spectrum to the other - fully conventional medical treatment to healing ourselves. Holding the paradox allows us to find the fulcrum which likely incorporates a mix of treatments (conventional and alternative) along with visioning, prayer, etc. For we are in this world with its conventional treatments but not of it (we are divine).
