It’s especially important that as we age, we find ways to be of service to the world - in ways that actually help the world. For when we are younger, our time is usually occupied with work and family. As those responsibilities decrease and many reach retirement age, we don’t to be in a place where we are just biding time until we die. The nature of God is service through love. This is our spiritual DNA, and if we aren’t fulfilling this, we will be depressed. Unfortunately, the world is set up for people to “retire” and do leisure activities … until they get old and frail and go into a nursing home.
This is not how God intended it. We are meant to live in communities where the elders contribute their lifelong wisdom to the others, especially the young. This giving back in service provides immense joy. We aren’t in that place as a society where this can happen - yet - but we will need to return to this or our society will continue to crumble. In the interim, it’s important that each person gives back and contributes to the whole in whatever way that’s possible. This could be making calls to those who live alone, working at a soup kitchen, or helping to raise grandchildren.
These posts are similar to the over 2600 statements on The Divine Speaks website where God gives YOU the one that you need to hear at that time.
