Pointing To The Moon

 Many people have heard of the Buddhist lesson of the teacher pointing out the moon to his students. The students mistake the finger (the teaching) for the moon (enlightenment). This is the issue that happens with many on the spiritual path as they get caught up in the thinking that there is something they need to, something they need to learn or achieve, to reach enlightenment. 

Nothing could be further from the truth as we already are that which we want to become. It’s a recognition, a change in consciousness versus something we have to achieve. It’s the moving from a recognition of the personal to the universal, a recognition that all duality is contained in unity. Unfortunately, many think they have made this recognition as they talk the spiritual talk, but they haven’t really made the transition as they still have programs running underneath where they still believe in duality or that God is a punishing God. Only by healing and releasing our false beliefs, which can be very difficult at times (Jesus said the path is narrow and hard and few will walk it) and is not done in a weekend retreat, can we come to see what was always there - God within. It’s actually really simple but the world and spiritual teachings make it seem like we have to do all of these things. We don’t have to do anything but release the false.
